The product's safety data sheet sets the protective equipment, ventilation and first aid steps. Read it before you open the container. In general terms, this is how solvent based paint removers are used:
Work outdoors or in a well ventilated bay, away from welding, grinding and any open flame. Mask off or remove parts you do not want to strip. Solvents can attack plastics, rubber seals, trims, glass fibre and some body fillers, so test a small hidden area first.
Brush on a thick, even coat in one direction and do not keep brushing it back and forth, because that lets the solvent evaporate before it works. Leave it until the paint wrinkles, then lift it with a scraper. Where paint remains, apply a second coat to that area. Clean off residue as the safety data sheet directs, then let the metal dry fully.
Bare steel starts to rust quickly in coastal humidity, as you will see in Muscat, Sohar and Duqm. Plan to prime the stripped surface on the same day.
