Product description

Hexamethylenetetramine, also known as methenamine, hexamine, or urotropin, is a heterocyclic organic compound with the formula (CH2)6N4. HEXAMINE Used as a corrosion inhibitor for steel.

Applications

The dominant use of hexamethylenetetramine is in the production of powdery or liquid preparations of phenolic resins and phenolic resin moulding compounds, where it is added as a hardening component.

Hexamethylenetetramine is a versatile reagent in organic synthesis. It plays a major role in modern organic synthesis. This review focuses on hexamine reagent for its significant role in organic synthesis during the past decades and is able to provide a valuable perspective from synthetic point of view.

Remarks

Uses:
  • It can be used as a curing agent for resins and plastics, the vulcunization accelrator of rubber and textile shrink proof agent.
  • It can also be used for making antimicrobial drug explosives and so on. As medicine, after oral administration, It can be decomposed when coming accros acidic urine to generate formaldehye and exerts its antibacterial effect used for treating mild urinary tract infection; it can be extremely used for treating ringworm, antiperspirants, and treatment of undrarm odor. Its beingmixed with caustic soda sodium phenol can be used as the phosgene absorber of gas masks. It can be used as a kind of anti-microbial agent.
  • It can be used as antishrinking textile finishing agent, bleaching agent of sodium chlorite and the buffer of waterproffing agent 
  • Hexamethylenetetramine is mainly used as the curing agent of plastic and resin, the catylist and foaming agent of aminoplast, rubber vulcunization accelerator and the shrink proof agent of textiles.
  • Hexamethylene tetramine is raw material of organic synthesis and can be used for the production of chloramphenicol in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Hexamethylenetetramine can be used as the disinfectant of urinary system with itself having no antibacterial effect and being effectice in treating gram-negative bacteria. Its 20% solution can be used for the treatment of underam odour, sweaty feet tinea and so on.Its being mixed with sodium phenol and can be used as phosegen absorber for gas masks. It can also be used for the manufacture of pesticide.
  • Hexamethylenetetramine can be used as reagent and chromatographic reagent for determination of bismuth,indium, mangnase, cobalt, thorium, platinum, producing magnessium,lithium, copper, uranium, beryllium, tellurium, bromide, and iodide.In the liver function tests, it can be used for formulating thymol turbidity, test and measurement of object such as bismuth, iron, manganese, cobalt, thorium, platinum and magnesium as well as the determination and identification of lithium, iron cyanide, iron bromide and iodide. It can also be used for the determination of copper, uranium, beryllium, tellurium etc. Moreover, it can be used as gas chromatography fixed solution (maximum usage temperature of 180 ℃ with the solvent being chloroform).
