Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 incorporates oxygen scavenger to rapidly remove oxygen, biocide to prevent Microbial Influenced Corrosion (MIC), together with a film forming corrosion inhibitor to combat acid (low pH) corrosion. Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 represents a single stage treatment chemical treatment, for hydrotest and mothball operations. Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 is a completely soluble product in fresh water, seawater and in most oilfield brine solutions. It is, therefore, suitable for use in water injection systems (which have no mechanical deaeration), hydrotest and mothball operations, and as a packer fluid. Hydro Testing Corrosion Inhibitor RXSOL 4000 has been used in a large number of major projects in the North Sea, Latin America and South East Asia.

Before testing of Nitrite level, Here is some point and guideline,  what you need to do. : 1 take the following readings; pH, TDS (uS), and nitrite level.and record. 2 add the Chemical your are using. 3. wait for a period of time for the sysem to circulate. hours> 4. Re check the readings. and record. 5 track these readings
for a period of time.

If the TDS and Nitrite drop you have a leak/ unknown makeup. if the TDS stays stable and the nitrite drops you have a biological problem. Bacteria that convert nitrite to nitrate.

SCALE CONTROL in closed water cooling systems - Diesel and gas engines releasing high temperature due to that water present in jacket cooling system  increases its tendency to deposit scale. To avoid scale formation water softener like Zeolite  gradual buildup of scale in cylinders and cylinder heads. Where condensate is available, it is preferred for closed system cooling water makeup. Where condensate is not available, zeolite softening should be applied to the makeup water.
 
CORROSION CONTROL An increase in water temperature causes an increase in corrosion. At high temperature  solubility of oxygen in water decreases due to that Corrosion rates increasing inside the system.  This occurs because the lower solubility of oxygen with increasing temperatures in a freely vented system decreases the corrosion rate faster than the rise in temperature increases it. However, in many closed systems, the dissolved oxygen entering the system in the makeup water cannot be freely vented, resulting in the release of oxygen at points of high heat transfer, which may cause severe corrosion. Untreated systems can suffer serious corrosion damage from oxygen pitting, galvanic action, and crevice attack. Closed cooling systems that are shut down periodically are subjected to water temperatures that may vary from ambient to 180°F (82°C) or higher. During shutdown, oxygen can enter the water until its saturation limit is reached. When the system is returned to high-temperature operation, oxygen solubility drops and the released oxygen attacks metal surfaces. 
 
The three most reliable corrosion inhibitors for closed cooling water systems are chromate, molybdate, and nitrite materials. Generally, the chromate or molybdate types have proven to be superior treatments.

Peracetic Acid can be applied for the deactivation of a large variety of pathogenic microorganisms. It also deactivates viruses and spores. Peracetic Acid activity is hardly influenced by organic compounds that are present in the Water. Peracetic Acid is used mainly in the Food Industry, where it is applied as a cleanser and as a disinfectant. It is applied for bacteria and fungi removal. It was also used for the disinfection of recycled rinsing water for foodstuffs.

 
Peracetic acid is applied for the disinfection of medical supplies and to prevent bio film formation in pulp industries. It can be applied during water purification as a disinfectant and for Plumming Disinfection. Peracetic acid is suitable for cooling tower water disinfection; it effectively prevents bio film formation and controls Legionella bacteria. Silicates                           A common corrosion inhibitor used by automotive antifreeze suppliers is silicates. Silicates have the disadvantage of building up an insulating layer on components and are not recommended for industrial engines. Concentration should not exceed 25 ppm.

The disadvantages of not treating the closed circuit water can be equally troubling for the system operator:-
1. Leakage in PHE and AHU due to corrosion
2. Plugging and clogging of tubes and reduced flow rate
3. REduced heat transfer
4. Need of regular descalling that incurs shutdowns, loss of labor and time
5. Fouling of brine of chiller water

Chemical tratment removes dissolved oxygen that cause oxidation of metal to metal oxide i.e., Iron + Oxygen = Iron Oxide (Rust)

The chemical also contains a specific inhibitor to protect copper from corrosion and removes/prevents any sort of scale formation in the system.
