Superoxide Dismutase  is an enzyme that protects cells from damage caused by reactive oxygen species (ROS). It's found in all aerobic organisms. 

Applications

How it works:
 
SOD catalyzes the conversion of superoxide radicals into hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen.
SOD is a vital antioxidant in humans.
SOD is part of the first line of defense against oxidative stress. 
SOD in health and disease.
SOD deficiency or dysfunction has been linked to human pathologies. 
SOD injections may help with pain and stiffness in people with rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis.
SOD levels are low in patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
