Overview

Strontium sulphate (celestine), SrSO4, for ceramics, glass, pyrotechnics and drilling.

Product description

Strontium sulphate, SrSO4 (CAS 7759-02-6), is a white powder that occurs naturally as the mineral celestine. It is only slightly soluble in water.

It is the main raw material for other strontium compounds, and is used in ceramic glazes and glass, as a white filler and pigment, in pyrotechnic flares (strontium gives a red flame), and as a weighting material in some drilling fluids.

Supplied from Barka to customers across Oman. Tell us the grade, quantity and delivery site and we will send a quote.

Applications

Strontium sulfate (SrSO4) is a white crystalline compound, found naturally as the mineral celestite, that is poorly soluble in water but dissolves in nitric and hydrochloric acids. It is used in the production of certain glasses, paints, and ceramics, and as a desiccant.

Dosage

Strontium sulfate SrSO4 is the sulfate salt of strontium. It is a white crystalline powder and occurs in nature as the mineral celestine. It is poorly soluble in water to the extent of 1 part in 8800. It is more soluble in dilute HCl and nitric acid and appreciably soluble in alkali chloride solutions.
