P 1318 (OTTO) Paraffin wax, with ceresin congealing point about 60 °C Cas 8002-74-2 - used to impregnate tissue prior to sectioning thin samples of tissue.Paraffin Wax With Ceresin is available in fully refined form. Also known as microcrystalline wax, this solid substance is used as suitable emollient, binding factor and viscosity enhancing agent in cosmetic industry. Pure white in appearance, it is manufactured by de-oiling petroleum.

Paraffin waxes are mixtures of saturated n- and iso-alkanes, naphthenes, and alkyl-substituted and naphthene-substituted aromatic compounds.
