Iodophor disinfectant is iodine complexed with a surfactant or a polymer carrier such as povidone. The carrier holds the iodine in solution and releases it slowly, which makes it less staining and less irritating than plain iodine tincture.
It is used as a sanitiser for equipment and surfaces in dairies, breweries, food plants and farms, for teat dipping, and as a general disinfectant. Follow the dilution and contact time on the product label.
