Overview

Hydroxylamine hydrochloride ([NH3OH]Cl), a reducing agent for synthesis and analysis.

Product description

Hydroxylammonium chloride, also called hydroxylamine hydrochloride, is [NH3OH]Cl (CAS 5470-11-1). It is a white, water-soluble crystalline solid.

It is used as a reducing agent, to make oximes in organic and pharmaceutical synthesis, in analytical chemistry (for example to reduce iron(III) before colorimetric iron tests), and in soil and environmental analysis of reducible metals.

It is harmful if swallowed, irritates skin and eyes and may cause skin sensitisation.

Supplied from Barka to customers across Oman. Tell us the grade, quantity and delivery site and we will send a quote.

Applications

Uses:
Reducing Agent: Hydroxylammonium chloride is a common reducing agent in various chemical reactions.
Organic Synthesis: It plays a role in the synthesis of chemical and pharmaceutical products.
Environmental Remediation: It's used as a reductant for metal ions in environmental remediation.
Wastewater Treatment: It can enhance Fenton-like oxidation in wastewater treatment.
Soil Analysis: It's used in BCR protocols to determine the reducible fraction of metals in polluted soils.
LIBs Recycling: It's a potential reductant for metal ions in lithium-ion battery (LIB) recycling processes.

Dosage

Hydroxylammonium chloride, also known as hydroxylamine hydrochloride, is a chemical compound with the formula [NH₃OH]⁺Cl⁻, the hydrochloric acid salt of hydroxylamine. It's a colorless inorganic compound used in organic synthesis and as a reducing agent.

Chemical Formula: [NH₃OH]⁺Cl⁻ or HONH2·HCl
Synonyms: Hydroxylamine hydrochloride
CAS Number: 5470-11-1
Molar Mass: 69.49 g/mol

Also known as

Hydroxylammonium Chloride, HYDROXYLamine

Notes

Preparation: It can be prepared by reducing acidified potassium nitrite with potassium bisulfite, yielding hydroxylammonium sulfate, followed by adding barium chloride to obtain the chloride form.
