Caesium fluoride (cesium fluoride), CsF (CAS 13400-13-0), is a white, very hygroscopic salt.
In organic synthesis it is used as a source of fluoride ion: for fluorination, for removing silyl protecting groups, and as a base in coupling and condensation reactions. It is also used in some brazing fluxes and in infrared optics.
It is toxic if swallowed and irritating to skin and eyes. Store tightly closed to keep out moisture.
