Bismuth sulfate, with the formula Bi₂(SO₄)₃, is an inorganic chemical compound of bismuth, appearing as a white, hygroscopic solid that decomposes at 465°C. 

Applications

Bismuth(III)sulphate, with formula Bi₂(SO₄)₃, is an inorganic salt of bismuth and sulfuric acid, used in analysis of other metallic sulfates.

Dosage

Bismuth subsalicylate tablets treat occasional diarrhea. They can also treat symptoms of an upset stomach like heartburn, indigestion and gas.

Bismuth subsalicylate relieves diarrhea, travelers' diarrhea, nausea, heartburn, indigestion, gas, or upset stomach.

Bismuth(III) sulfate, with the chemical formula Bi2(SO4)3, is an inorganic compound, a salt of bismuth metal and sulfuric acid, appearing as a white, hygroscopic solid that decomposes at 465 °C. It is also known as bismuth trisulfate or bismuth sesquisulfate. 

Analytical Chemistry:

  • Reagent and Standard Solution: Bismuth sulfate can be used as a reagent or in the preparation of standard solutions for various laboratory analyses. 
  • Determination of other metal sulfate salts: It is used to determine other metal sulfate salts. 

Pharmaceuticals:

  • Medicinal Compounds: Bismuth sulfate is employed in the formulation of certain pharmaceuticals and medicinal compounds, leveraging its non-toxic nature and chemical stability. 
  • Gastrointestinal Ailments: Bismuth compounds, including bismuth sulfate, have been used extensively in the treatment of gastrointestinal ailments, including upset stomach, heartburn, and nausea. 
  • Diarrhea Treatment: Bismuth subsalicylate, a bismuth compound, is used to treat diarrhea and help prevent traveler's diarrhea. 
  • Ulcer Treatment: Under a doctor's direction, bismuth subsalicylate is used with other medications to treat stomach ulcers caused by Helicobacter pylori. 

BENEFITS::

Bismuth salts also work like an antacid to treat problems such as indigestion. Bismuth might also speed up blood clotting. People commonly use bismuth for travelers' diarrhea, a digestive tract infection that can lead to ulcers (Helicobacter pylori or H. pylori), and stomach ulcers.
